About the role

Responsible for overseeing the inventory and re-supply systems for all General and Hospital Stores on the ship. Report to the Operations Director but will collaborate closely with the Supply Chain Director based at the International Support Center (ISC) Texas and Procurement Manager at the European Distribution Center (EDC) in Holland to ensure continuity and maximum efficiency of all supply chain processes.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Oversee Hospital and General stores departments on-board
  • Accountable for ensuring that Hospital and General Inventory Controllers maintain accurate inventory levels that meet the changing needs of the vessel
  • Develop documented training for Hospital and General Stores teams in partnership with Staff Development
  • Monitor receiving, usage, and inventory management processes for all non-technical departments
  • Manage key performance indicators such as Out of Stock reports, Days on Hand reports, Critical On Hand report, Cycle Counts, Inventory Adjustment reports, and other as required by the Ship’s Operations Director and (ISC) International Service Center Supply Chain Director
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the ships Inventory Management Software System (SLIN) in order to assist, train, and manage Supply Staff
  • Ensure cross-departmental supply processes are developed and maintained on board
  • Strictly adhere to all supply chain standardized product lists, policies and procedures
  • Assist department heads in defining their supply needs whilst helping to define the division of responsibilities between department heads and stores managers
  • Work with Hospital and General Inventory Controller to evaluate, standardize and implement Standard Operating Procedures for inventory management, stock rotation and re-supply on-board the vessel in line with supply chain best practices
  • Responsible for demand planning process of “local purchases” from local chandlers and ensure the process is coordinated between Food Services Manager and Supply.
  • Liaise with Purser and Chief Officer about delivery of containers and any donation or disposal of unneeded or obsolete equipment and/or supplies. Must document and provide a root cause analysis for all disposed inventory
  • Act as the ships primary liaison for the implementation of any Supply Chain Management software or improvement initiatives in partnership with the (ISC) International Service Center Supply Chain Director and Operations Director, ensuring clear objectives are met and communicated appropriately on-board the vessel
  • Due to the ever-changing staffing levels and field service rotations, all staff may be re-assigned to temporarily fill roles in other departments in a time of need
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required:

  • Successful completion of OnBoarding program
  • Inventory/supply experience in a medical environment would be beneficial
  • Management experience required in Inventory Control and Supply Chain Management, with focus on both demand- pull and forced booked inventory
  • Experience in Project Management required
  • Experience in training personnel preferred
  • Familiarity with International logistics and shipping preferred
  • Basic knowledge of French required, fluency preferred
  • Degree in management or supply chain discipline preferred
